Jewelry Set in Stone
Terms of Use
Effective November 1, 2026
1. Using our website and the Private Atelier
These terms apply when you use jewelrysetinstone.com, the Private Atelier and our emails. By using them, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
Your account. You need to be at least 18 to create a Private Atelier account. Give us accurate details, keep your password private, and tell us right away at info@jewelrysetinstone.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Changes to the services. We may change, pause or stop parts of the website or the Private Atelier. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
2. Inquiries, appointments, custom work and repairs
- Inquiries and design ideas are not orders. Sending an inquiry, a design idea or a repair request starts a conversation. Nothing is agreed, and nothing is charged, until you and the studio agree the work in writing.
- Suggested times are preferences. When you suggest days and times for an appointment, Marie will be in touch with a time that fits the studio's schedule. An appointment is confirmed only when the studio confirms it.
- Custom work. Each custom piece is made to an agreed design. Pricing, deposits, timing, approvals, changes and cancellations are set out in your quote or commission agreement for that piece. Images and descriptions on the website show past work and are for inspiration; every piece is one of a kind, and stones and finishes vary.
- Custom pieces are final sale. Because each custom piece is made for you to the design you approve, it can't be returned, exchanged or refunded once it's finished. If something isn't quite right, tell us within 30 days of pickup and we'll make one reasonable adjustment at no charge, such as resizing or a small change to fit or finish. A new or different design is a new commission.
- Deposits. A deposit is refundable until design work begins or materials are ordered for your piece. After that, it covers the design time and materials already committed and is not refunded if you cancel.
- Our workmanship. We stand behind our craftsmanship for one year from pickup: if a defect in our work appears, we'll repair it at no charge. Normal wear, accidents, impact damage (including stones lost from a blow), and repairs or alterations made elsewhere aren't covered.
- Repairs. A repair starts with a repair assessment of the piece. We'll then give you an estimate, and no work begins until you approve it; if we find more is needed once work starts, we'll ask before going further. While your piece is with us we take reasonable care of it. Older and worn jewelry can have hidden weaknesses (thin shanks, worn prongs, fractured or treated stones), so we are not responsible for damage caused by a condition the piece already had, or for loss beyond our reasonable control; we recommend keeping your jewelry insured. We'll let you know when your piece is ready. If it isn't collected within 90 days of that notice, and we haven't been able to reach you, we may treat it as abandoned and deal with it as Michigan law allows.
- Promised dates. Any completion date we give is our best estimate, and we'll let you know if it changes.
3. Your photos, notes and what you share
Your content stays yours. You keep ownership of the photos, notes and ideas you upload. You give us permission to store, display and use them to work with you: to show them to you, to Stephen and Marie, and to anyone you share them with through a share link. We will not publish your photos or designs, for example in our portfolio or marketing, without asking you first.
Only upload what you may share. Upload only photos and content you own or have permission to use, and nothing unlawful, hateful or harmful.
Share links. A share link works for anyone who has it until you stop it or it ends after 90 days. You're responsible for who you send it to.
Referrals. Only refer people who would be happy to hear from us. We may decide not to send a referral.
Fair use. Don't try to access other people's accounts or data, interfere with the website, or use automated tools to copy it.
4. Our work, liability and the legal details
Our designs and content. The website's text, photographs, videos, designs and the Jewelry Set in Stone name belong to us or are used with permission. You're welcome to share photos of your piece and of our work on social media, as long as you tag Jewelry Set in Stone in the post. Any other copying or reuse needs our written permission. Designs we create for you remain our designs unless your commission agreement says otherwise.
The website is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the website or the Private Atelier. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that can't be limited. Your agreement for a custom piece or repair sets out our responsibilities for that work.
Michigan law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Washtenaw County, Michigan.
Changes. We may update these terms. If we make an important change, we will update the date and let account holders know. Continuing to use the services means you accept the updated terms.
