Information about other people: if you give us details about someone else (a partner, a person you share with, or a friend you refer), please make sure they would be happy for you to share them. We use a referred friend's details only to send them the one invitation you asked for.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- answer your inquiry, arrange consultations and appointments, and send the confirmations and reminders that go with them;
- design, make, repair and deliver your jewelry, and keep you updated on your project in the Private Atelier;
- run your account: sign-in, security, the features you use (profile, designs, inspiration boards, share links, gift ideas, referrals, messages);
- remember the details that make your visits and pieces personal, such as your sizes, preferences and the dates you've shared;
- send marketing emails, only if you have said yes (see section 4);
- keep the website and accounts secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems;
- meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Stephen and Marie, the studio's staff, can see what you share in the Private Atelier, including your inspiration board and profile, so they can prepare for your visits and designs. Staff sign in with two-step verification.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles or automated decisions about you.
4. Email and your choices
We send two kinds of email:
- Service emails about something you started: inquiry confirmations, appointment confirmations and reminders, project updates, pickup notices, account and security codes. You can turn some updates off in Email & notifications; account and security emails always go out.
- Marketing emails (studio news and new designs, events and gemstone experiences, special offers) only if you choose them. Sending an inquiry is not a yes to marketing.
You can change your marketing choices at any time in the Private Atelier, or with the one-click unsubscribe link in every marketing email, without signing in. Unsubscribing from everything stops all marketing; service emails about your inquiries and projects still arrive.
If you previously signed up for our emails (for example at an art fair or through our old mailing list), we keep a record of that sign-up and will honor any earlier unsubscribe. We will invite past subscribers to move to the new site; we will not re-add anyone who unsubscribed.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the studio, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing their service to us:
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website and the Private Atelier, and counts website visits without cookies or personal profiles (Vercel Web Analytics) |
| Supabase | Stores account, project and inquiry data and uploaded photos |
| Postmark | Sends our emails |
| SiteGround | Hosts the studio's email inbox |
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or with a buyer if the business is ever sold (this policy would still apply).
Things you share yourself:
- A private share link lets anyone who has it view the board, collection or design it covers, without signing in, until you stop the link or it ends after 90 days. Only send it to people you trust. We record who you said it was for, how often it was opened, and whether they saved it to their own Atelier; we never show the link to anyone else.
- When you refer a friend, Marie reviews it and sends your friend one invitation with your name and your note. Your friend becomes a contact so we can see whether they joined; they are not added to marketing.
6. Keeping, protecting and controlling your information
How long we keep it. We keep your account and project records while you have an account and for 7 years after your last project, so we can support your jewelry (repairs, warranties and records of what we made) and meet tax and legal requirements. Inquiries that never became a project are kept for 3 years. Unsubscribe and do-not-contact records are kept permanently so we can honor them.
Security. Data is encrypted in transit, accounts use hashed passwords, staff accounts require two-step verification, and each client can only ever see their own records. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children. Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices and rights. You can see and update most of your information in the Private Atelier. You may also ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account and personal information (we may keep what the law requires, and records of past purchases). Email info@jewelrysetinstone.com; we will confirm it's you before acting and answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, your state's law may give you further rights; we will honor them.
Changes to this policy. If we make an important change, we will update the date at the top and let account holders know by email or in the Private Atelier.
